To Sparkle Punch...

High Five for Friday: February 17

JessComment

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here! 😁

Has this week been 20 days long for anyone else? It was not a great anxiety week for me, so I’m hoping I finally calm the eff down this weekend. But even in an anxious week, there was still some sparkle, so let’s talk about that!

(FYI: I make a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.)

  • I should know better than to go to Target after an emotional therapy session, but I needed coffee, and it’s always comforting to walk around Target (…until I get to the checkout line…). Something I definitely didn’t need but needed (ya know?) was this adorable plant sweatshirt! It was the only one, so I don’t think it was even in the right section, and when I rang it up, it was $5.00 off. Hooray! I wore it over the weekend and can confirm it is comfy and cozy (and a little bit oversized, so extra cozy!)!

Another cute thing worn this week: this adorable Callie Danielle shirt from her Valentine’s collection! A reminder that I need as much as anyone! 💖💖

  • I did watch a lot of the Super Bowl, though I watched it the way I watched most sports I’m not really into:

Somehow, I think this was my first time piloting a raft and WOW was it annoying.

I was surprisingly into it at times, though. Like, I actually cheered for the Eagles on several occasions—where did that come from? I guess if you’re from Philly, you can never just be a true looky-loo when Philly teams are in big games. I did at several points say, “Thank god I’m not really invested in this!” so my sincere condolences to everyone who actually cares. 😬🫶

  • CANNOT BELIEVE (and yet I can) that General Hospital is turning 60 this year!! I’ve been watching (on and off) since 1999, so I’m 24 years in myself, how the heck did that happen? It is wild that the kids of the characters I was watching in ‘99 are now the “teen scene.” Even though I don’t watch GH regularly, there’s something comforting about knowing that it’s always on and always “in season.” And that the same actors still populate Port Charles—I mean, geez, even super young ones like Haley Pullos and Eden McCoy have been on for like 10 years at this point. It’s comforting to immediately recognize most people no matter when you last watched. Sometimes you want to go where YOU know everybody’s name! 😂🏥

  • Lastly, it was quite warm (though rainy) yesterday, so I actually wrapped up work earlier than usual and got out of the house. 😮 What a treat to bop around a few stores on a school night!

I mean, if you’re already wearing pants that won’t show cat hair, you have to capitalize, right? 🤣🤣

What put the sparkle in your week? ✨

Happy Friday! xoxo

High Five for Friday: February 10

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here! 😁

Let’s see what put the sparkle ✨ in this first full week of February!

(FYI: I make a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.)

  • This cozy Walmart set! It was a Christmas gift, and it came in handy when it was absolutely freezing last Saturday. 🥶

Really, though, I should have worn it on Friday (which was also freezing) because my work desk is right in front of a drafty window, so it was a “work in a sweatshirt, blanket wrap, and UGGs” kind of day.

fashun✨

  • So back when we watched Pops’ favorite baseball player (Chris Taylor) do an IG Live, we heard that hats for his CT3 Foundation would be available soon. And lo and behold, they came out in January—perfect timing for Pops’ Valentine’s Day birthday!

BUT WAIT, there’s more! I follow CT and his wife Mary on Instagram, and I saw on her Insta Stories last week that she was printing the labels herself and he was packing/taping the boxes. Like, it’s one thing to support a famous person’s charity, but it is QUITE ANOTHER to know that they personally packaged and mailed the item you’re getting! By the time the hat arrived this week, Pops and my excitement levels were basically the same. 😂 I kept saying, “Oh my god, Mary’s package is here!” Sorry Chris! 😂😂

Note the very carefully opened box in the background! 😂😂

  • Something else arrived this week—a darling Valentine’s Day card from Kristin’s mom! 💖

However, the best part was the envelope:

I introduced her to washi tape over the holidays, and this roll (“fun dots”!!) was one of my Christmas gifts to her! 😂🎉 (Do I have the same roll? Why, yes I do!)

  • The weekly Pudge update. Our girl is not a lap cat, but throw a cozy blanket into the mix, and she is more apt to consider it (and melt my darn heart)! 😭💖😭💖

  • Lastly, with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, please enjoy this light I found in Target’s Valentine’s section. It’s definitely the aesthetic that was missing from my work desk. 😂😎🪩

also nicely illuminating my cousin’s Christmas gift to me, hi Luke 😂

Happy Friday! xoxo

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here! 😁

Let’s see what put the sparkle in the past week!

(FYI: I make a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.)

  • The yoga studio I used to go to pre-covid has a physical space again, and I managed to get out to their trauma-sensitive/recovery class last Friday! It was such a lovely way to start the weekend. I have so missed that community and the gentle reminders to be in my body. 🫶💖

  • Dora the Explorer struck again! If you leave a cabinet open, there’s gonna be a cat who wants to get in it.

LOL Pops!

Pudge and I did get to spend some lovely non-cabinet time together, though! 🥰🥰

  • Football is one sport I’ve never gotten into, but even I watched most of the Eagles game last Sunday as a looky-loo. Congrats to the Iggles fans who actually care! (And I’m sorry, Danielle, because I know you’re a big Niners fan! 😬) The most exciting aspect for me was this:

I might not care about football, but we all know I care very much about blankets, so I was very into Jalen Hurts’ blanket/coat/cape thing! 😂👍

Also, there were a bunch of tweets comparing Brock Purdy (😬) to Henry Rowengartner and WOW did that unlock a core memory. Rookie of the Year (and Little Big League, omg, remember that one??) was in heavy rotation as a rental from the movie store when I was a kid, and I hadn’t thought of it since possibly 1997!

  • Speaking of watching things, I know I’m late to the game, but has anyone watched season one of How I Met Your Father? Something possessed me to start it over the weekend, and I genuinely don’t know if I like it or not! (And I’m up to like episode 8! 😂🙈)

Amen, sister!

I do love Hilary Duff, though, and she and Jesse are a highlight for sure. I guess this also means I’ve finally recovered from the trauma of the HIMYM finale after nine years, LOL!

  • One last lovely reminder to take us into the weekend! 🫶💖

High Five for Friday: January 27

JessComment

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here! 😁

It’s been a minute since we’ve done a High Five for Friday, and I hope you’ve had some sparkly moments! ✨ Let’s see what’s put the sparkle into my last few weeks!

  • Well, Pudge, of course. Apple of my eye that she is. 😍 Although girlfriend has also brought some 🔥spice🔥! One of Pops’ big concerns about getting a cat was keeping her out of our unfinished basement (*cough* dungeon *cough*). But that actually hasn’t been too hard because Pudge just isn’t the most curious cat.

Well, last week, somebody got curious!! If not for the washer and dryer, I personally would never go down the basement, so I hope Pudge immediately saw the error of her ways. 😂 Unclear who was more traumatized, her or Pops. Now he calls her “Dora”—as in, “the Explorer.” 💯 She has made no further attempts to go down there, so here’s hoping she’s learned her lesson!

Usually, though, Pudge is more content to snooze adorably (and sometimes make us biscuits!) on the upper floors, and we all appreciate that! 💖

like what am I even supposed to say about this? 😭💖

  • You know, it’s never good when you run into this label while packing up the ol’ Christmas decorations:

🎶building a mysteryyyyy🎶

Still unclear on what exactly is in there because it went right back into the closet! 👍

At least Pudge was a big help, oh wait….

  • When Pops would ask what I wanted for Christmas, he would get two answers: a car wash and a Clapper. Swear it’s not 1995. 😂 You know those curtain lights I talked about last week? Unfortunately, I have them plugged in on the other side of my bedroom, so when I inevitably forget about them and turn off my lamp to go to bed, whoops, I’m in a glowing discotheque. Pops tried to play the “They don’t make the Clapper anymore” card, but I was, in fact, able to find one on Amazon! I’m still getting the hang of how to clap at it effectively, so now a frequent occurrence in our house is a series of disjointed claps followed by a jubilant yell. Which is certainly a gift in itself. 😂

CLAP ON! 👏👏 CLAP OFF! 👏👏

  • Lastly, I am just smitten with this gorgeous notebook. (Why do I find the most random un-Kohl’s-like things at Kohl’s?) It makes me want to write! …and also not write because it’s too beautiful! 😂😩 iykyk

What put the sparkle in your week(s)? ✨

Happy Friday! xoxo

2022 Favorites!

JessComment

Before we get into this past year’s favorites, I must say, I still love and use the vast majority of my 2020-21 Favorites! (That Amazon table is SO good, it gets used all.the.time in our house. Although, yikes, it was half the price when I got it! 😬) So if Favorites posts are your jam, have a peek over there or at the periodic Favorites updates I shared during 2022!

Now, here are some other fave things that I haven’t talked about yet!

Some links below are affiliate links, which means I make a small commission (at no cost to you) if you click through!

Otium Bluetooth Headphones

How are these darn earbuds so good for $20?! If you feel like your wireless earbuds are always juuuust about to fall out, these are definitely worth a try. The sound quality is surprisingly good for the price point, the controls aren’t too fiddly, and I’m not constantly having to charge them. Even though I have a more expensive pair I could use, these are the ones I reach for!

Luna Weighted Blanket

Once Pudge joined the family, I tried to give up my weighted blanket (due to the impracticality of washing it), and I simply COULD NOT. I am just that person now. Forget the air fryer and the instapot, I will be preaching solely on the weighted blanket till the day I die, apparently. 😂

So I did a little research and found the washable Luna weighted blanket.

Now, I have not yet washed the blanket itself (only the duvet, and that’s been fine), but I am comforted to know that that option is there. It has been lovely as a weighted blanket, and, when paired with the duvet, it feels like a real comforter, rather than a throw that kind of fits my bed—so that’s new and fun for me! 😂

It’s also Pudge approved!

Uproot Cleaner Mini

Speaking of Pudge, this little guy has come in clutch for getting fur off the sections of the couch that she prefers to lounge on. My only regret is not getting the bigger one! (And the small one is not currently available, so you can learn from my mistake! haha)

“Mystical Pink Ombre” 🔮 curtain lights

These lights were a total impulse buy from Target in May, and I love them so much. They give off a surprising amount of light, which is very much appreciated in our dim house, and now, my bedroom has a pink and purple glow—what could be better??

Inspired Voices Bracelet

Speaking of impulse buys from Target, this Brave bracelet… I got it in early April and still wear it every day. (It gives me such joy when an impulse buy becomes a favorite, ha!) I love the small brassy lettering against the hematite beads, and the message is a nice reminder for those moments (aka most of life LOL) when I do not, in fact, feel brave. Unfortunately, it’s showing as sold out, but I’m pretty sure there are similar offerings in the Inspired Voices line.

Taken on especially brave day! 💖

Five and Two Hoops

Ugh, speaking of sold-out things, it looks like the exact pair of earrings I’ve been wearing nonstop (cute little gold hoops with removable stars) are not currently available—though this pair is the same concept, just blingier! I don’t like to sleep in hoops, so I will actually take them out at the end of the day and put them back in the next day. I realize that is normal earring-wearing behavior, but it’s HUGE for me because earrings are just not an accessory I think to change up. I usually live in one pair of studs for months on end!

You can see them in this photo, as well as the earbuds one, and probably any pics I’ve posted since June! They’re truly my 2022 ride-or-die!

Clearstem skincare

Almost 30 (and *cough* their discount code!) influenced me to try Clearstem, and I’m still using it. I’ve gone through multiple bottles of their Cellrenew serum and Hydraglow moisturizer, and, thanks to a holiday coupon, am now trying their Bounceback serum. (Unfortunately, you can blow their stuff pretty quick, and it is not cheap.) I’ve never loved my skin, mainly because of redness and uneven tone, but I’m liking it quite a bit more these days! Which is great because I can’t be arsed to wear makeup anymore. 😂

I actually took this picture after doing my skincare routine in March (so, about a month after I started using Clearstem) because I was shocked by how good my skin looked! HEY, LISTEN! Who is this glowing model?! 😂

Harper Wilde bras

These bras, particularly the Lounge Triangle and Lounge Scoop, are sooo comfy, while also being supportive and not annoying… aka perfect? haha They’re pretty much the only bras I want to wear at this point. Also excellent—each order comes with a mailer so you can recycle your old bras. That’s actually how I initially found the company, so it’s been a win-win!

Old Navy Sunday Sleep pajama pants

These pants are so good—they’re lightweight (great for sleeping under the aforementioned weighted blanket LOL), and they feel like a dream. Plus, they’re Old Navy, so you know the price isn’t outrageous. I was actually introduced to the Sunday Sleep line when I got a pair of their shorts from the clearance rack for like $3. Once those quickly became a fave, I went back for more!

What are your favorite finds of 2022? Did you buy anything you now can’t live without?

Happy Friday! xoxo ✨
