Friday Favorites: Christmas 2021

Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here! 😁

How the heck is it already New Year’s Eve?! Not that I’m sad to see 2021 go, but I still can’t believe Christmas is already over! I hope you had a wonderful, maybe even restorative (!!) holiday. We laid low for the most part (thanks, omicron), but here are some highlights:

(FYI: I make a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.)

BEHOLD this amazing shirt Timmi got me!! As an English major, I’ve had some Out of Print shirts in my day, but I had no idea they made a BSC one!! This is almost as exciting as when I got the Claudia doll for Christmas 1994!! 😂

Because of my omicron anxiety, Timmi and I ended up doing a porch gift exchange, which meant that I was literally standing on my porch in the freezing cold, shrieking, “IT’S KRISTY’S GREAT IDEA!!!!” That must be a first for our neighborhood, haha. At first, I thought it was just a shirt with the BSC logo, but then I recognized the original cover art from the first book—hence the shrieking. 😂

Amazing gift #2, courtesy of my bffl, Soph! Soph frequents a store near her that we call The Cool Girl Store because everything from it makes us feel like we’re remotely cool. 😂 And this amazing jumpsuit is one such item! It’s so soft and comfy. I want to live in it!

Soph has the same jumpsuit and suggested pairing it with an oversized sweater, and when Pops saw this outfit, he assumed it all came from The Cool Girl Store. No, in fact, the cardigan is from the pajama section of Target! 😂 (I’ve heard that it’s a Barefoot Dreams dupe, but I don’t have any of those, so I have no clue. All I know is that it’s super soft and fluffy! Basically a wearable blanket 10/10)

I don’t know about you, but we really got sucked into the Hallmark Christmas movie vortex in this house. Obviously, a Hallmark movie starring cats is a winner in my book! 😂 Pops’ votes go to The Christmas House 2 and Christmas by Starlight, which I also enjoyed. The 2020-21 Hallmark movies seem to have more humor and less predictability than earlier fare, which I appreciate!

Lastly, on a completely different note… Do you ever think back to past Christmases and feel so SO grateful that you are not that person or in that situation anymore? Christmas 2010 has been on my mind lately—it was a rough one in the thick of grad school. Now that I’m almost 10 years removed from finishing my Master’s, I feel such empathy for my younger self and am so glad that school no longer dictates my self-worth and general emotional state. I’m also really glad to have the help of therapy and mental health meds these days! ❤️❤️

Thanks again for stopping by, and Happy New Year! xoxo
